From November 2019 - February 2020 a retrospective exhibition of my work was held at Graves Gallery, Museums Sheffield - a huge honour for me in my home town.
This 100+ page catalogue, made to accompany the show, contains essays by Times art critic Laura Freeman, BBC 1 Fake or Fortune presenter Old Master dealer Philip Mould and fantasy author Neil Gaiman.
It takes the reader through my 25 year career to date - from exhibition poster boy Gaiman to David Blunkett, from Margaret Thatcher to film maker Richard Curtis, milliner Victoria Grant to former Archbishop Rowan Williams.
Stephen Fry provided a lovely coda to accompany my little icon painting of ‘The Prince of Soho’ Bernie Katz. Catalogue contributors include Laurie Lewis, Dr Sophie Kelly and Dr Emily Guerry.
The catalogue comes in two cover options. One carrying my Muse Joachim Gram and two portraits from The Single Man Paintings. The other featuring Neil Gaiman’s visage captured in layers of wax on prehistoric bog oak on the cover, the back a beady eye from the colossal 2 metre canvas Big Neil.
