Peonies for Annalisa (Print)
Giclee print edition of 100 on archival Hahnemühle German Etching paper
60 x 60 cm (23.6 x 23.6 inches)
Peonies have become something of a recurring theme of mine. I first painted them for a Plantlife Charity auction when asked by their patron and my friend, Philip Mould. I got a bit of gentle ribbing for my subject matter, as Plantife specifically support wild plants and the biodiversity they bring! What can I say - there aren't many wildflowers in Bethnal Green and I picked the best flowers in the florist...
These large scale peonies were created for a beautiful interior. I love making pieces responding to what will elevate a space, and I created this for a friend and patroness for her apartment, linking two spaces. If clients trust me enough to also advise colours for their walls, so much the better. In another life I would be an interior designer.
